In collaboration with Science World, we present “Art of Code: Illuminating Creativity with Micro:bits,” a groundbreaking workshop designed to inspire and empower the next generation of creative minds.

For the first time, Vancouver-based audiences have the opportunity to explore the work of this famed international artist without travelling to Paris or New York. Creative Coding with Micro:bits:
Step into the realm of creative coding with Micro:bits, versatile programmable microcontrollers. Led by experts from Science World, participants will delve into hands-on coding sessions, where the canvas is transformed into a palette of RGB lights under their command.
Interdisciplinary Learning:
Discover the seamless integration of art and technology, fostering an interdisciplinary understanding that goes beyond traditional boundaries. Witness the power of Micro:bits in translating artistic concepts into dynamic visual displays.
Youth Empowerment and Skill Development:

*The Family Pass grants access maximum of 2 adults and 2 children to the event. The James Turrell exhibition will be part of this event and admission is included in the family pass. A limited amount of grant funding is available to families facing financial barriers. Individuals must request and submit a grant form for approval to be eligible.

- Families arrive, create name tags, and get oriented.
1:10 – 1:40 (intro and guided tour)
- Introduction to gallery space and rules
- Intro to Science World facilitators and CICA Staff
- Event Overview provided
- CICA Vancouver provides each student with a creative learners packet (includes vocab, bio, etc.
- A family-friendly interactive guided tour, based on questions for active observation.
1:40-2 pm (self-guided exploration)
- Families are given art-making materials and sent to explore the gallery. They are recommended to choose their favourite work and make a sketch from it.

2:00-2:50 PM (Creative Coding workshop)
- Families are brought to the second-floor creative area to participate in the Micro:bit motors coding workshop.
