On Saturday, October 25th, 2025 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm, CICA Vancouver will host a Creative Learner Workshop with a guided gallery visit. This event aims to provide opportunities for participants to learn about the cultural references and traditions in threadwork, understand the laborious process behind artist Xiangmei Su’s piece currently on display, and experience art making using a unique thread and pin technique.
There are no prerequisites to participate in this event besides interest.

The event will begin with a 20-min brief tour for the current exhibition “CICA Vancouver Emerging to Midcareer International Award Exhibition Part 2”, led by the Curator. Participants will then attend the Threadwork workshop, led by artist, Xiangmei Su. The workshop will encourage participants to create with a unique medium, learn the cultural history of threadwork, and allow them to try to make one themselves.
Please note that participants of all ages are welcomed, participants under 10 years old need to be accompanied by a guardian. They will share one set of tools and canvas to great a piece together.
