Inspired by the current exhibition, Ksawery Komputery: RRGGBB. We partner with Science World once more to present a family coding workshop.
On Monday, March 11th, CICA Vancouver will join forces with Science World to host an extensive day of creative coding workshops catering to various schools and family groups throughout Vancouver. The event will span the entire day and will feature sessions offered in three distinct time slots. Participants can expect a comprehensive two-hour experience, encompassing a guided exhibition tour, an introduction to generative art, and collaborative hands-on learning with electrical circuits and addressable LEDs. Together, attendees will delve into the exciting realm of coding images and animations in lights.
This workshop aims to engage a diverse audience, including participants from public schools, private schools, and the Creative Learners program, all within a single day. The goal is to maximize outreach and provide an enriching coding experience to the widest possible audience.
Event Objectives
Introduction to Generative Art:
- Introduce participants, especially youth, to the innovative world of generative art through the works of international artist Ksawery Komputery, sparking curiosity and inspiring a new perspective on artistic expression.
Diverse Audience Engagement:
- Attract a diverse audience by offering a full-day event that accommodates participants from public, private, and Creative Learners based programming, ensuring inclusivity and broadening the reach of creative coding education.

About Ksawery Komputery
Ksawery Kirklewski, known as Ksawery Komputery, is a Polish creative coder and new media artist born in 1988. His journey began with a passion for ‘big pixels’ and computer science, leading to studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland. After a shift towards fine art, coding, and graphic design, he graduated in 2015 with a diploma in “exhibition of banners,” receiving the minister of culture’s prize.
Combining retro influences with contemporary technology, Kirklewski has established a successful career in creative coding and art. His focus is on digital and generative art, showcased in interactive light installations, music videos, generative animations, phygital sculptures, and public space realizations. Collaborating with institutions like Nxt Museum Amsterdam and Khroma Berlin, he is known for coding expertise and immersive installations, avoiding commercial collaborations to align with his artistic vision.
As “Ksawery Komputery,” Kirklewski has created impactful projects like “Flux” at Miami Art Week and “Enter” for Nxt Museum in Amsterdam. Noteworthy collaborations include the generative music website “Symphony in Acid” with Max Cooper and the phygital sculpture series “Ctrl_dat” for Kate Vass Gallery in Zurich. Central to his work is the exploration of “phygital,” seamlessly blending physical and digital experiences. Ksawery Kirklewski continues to push the boundaries of generative and net art, leaving a lasting impact on the intersection of art and technology.
