As part of CICA Vancouver’s exhibition Clouds for Breakfast by Daisy Parris, we are hosting a special sound bath meditation session facilitated by Corus, a X̄á’isla & Kitasoo Xai’xais sound artist. This event will create an immersive and contemplative space where sound and contemporary abstract art converge, offering participants a deep sensory experience of Parris’ work.
This sound bath meditation is designed to expand the ways in which participants engage with Parris’ paintings. Through harmonic vibrations and immersive soundscapes, Corus will guide attendees through deep listening and reflection, inviting them to connect with the emotional resonance of color, texture, and movement within the works.
By merging sound and visual art, this experience will encourage:
- Stillness & Reflection – creating a space for quiet contemplation in response to the exhibition
- Embodied Engagement – allowing participants to connect with the paintings beyond sight, through sound and presence
- Emotional & Sensory Connection – exploring how sound and art interact to shape perception and emotion
What the event will look like:
- Guided tour of the exhibition – introducing participants to Parris’ work and themes
- Sound bath meditation – a 60-minute session led by Corus, designed to complement the emotional and physical presence of the paintings
What you can expect:
- Indigenous tea by Rh Tea will be served, offering a grounding and nourishing element to the experience.
What to bring:
- For health and safety reasons, we kindly ask that participants bring their own yoga mats, blankets, or cushions to sit or lie on during the sound bath, as we are unable to provide these items.
