CICA Vancouver will develop ongoing programs to enhance public engagement, support and recognize artists and professionals, and foster artistic exchanges through innovative collaboration. CICA Vancouver will continuously highlight the importance of engagement and accessibility in the arts and implement programs that can enhance the dissemination of contemporary art ideas.
The Artist-in-Residency Program is an important component of CICA Vancouver’s mandate and programming. It allows artists to explore the city’s natural and cultural landscape to draw inspiration from its history and people. During the residency, talks, panel discussions, and seminars will be organized to enhance exchange of ideas and foster communication between the artist and the local community. Field trips, tours, studio visits, and networking events will also be organized to help the artist get to know the city, find new inspirations, and build connections with local professionals.
CICA Vancouver supports the research, documentation, and archive of recently emerging, growing, and established artists. The documentation and archive will put a special emphasis on artists and works that examine visual culture representative to the young generations and will engage in the discussion of issues relevant to their everyday life. Through the medium of physical or e-publications, photographs, videos, and other physical documents, CICA aims to enhance the accessibility and dissemination of these histories and ideas.
