First Light, Accessible Art Exhibition and Auction at CICA is a focused initiative dedicated to supporting artists at the early stages of their practice by creating direct pathways into exhibition-making and the art market. Bringing together a diverse group of emerging voices, this project offers artists the opportunity to present their work within a professional institutional context while engaging meaningfully with collectors and new audiences.
For many artists, navigating the transition from studio practice to market visibility can be complex and uncertain. This exhibition is designed to bridge that gap. Through a curated one-week presentation and a structured sales format, participating artists gain valuable experience in pricing, positioning, and presenting their work within a real market environment, skills that are essential to sustaining a long-term practice.
CICA Vancouver will provide guidance along the way in the aspects from pricing strategy to marketing, actively leverage its network of collectors, patrons, and art professionals to create visibility and opportunities for participating artists. The accessible price framework is not intended to diminish value, but rather to encourage entry points for new collectors, fostering a broader ecosystem where artists’ work can circulate, be seen, and be supported.
At its core, this exhibition is about building momentum—offering emerging artists not only a platform, but a meaningful step toward establishing their presence within the contemporary art landscape.
